The company Artesan Pharma GmbH & Co. KG develops and produces medical devices, medicines and dietary supplements according to the requirements of their customers. For ideal product marking a LEIBINGER JET3 as well as a LKS 5Security camera are used to print individual information fast and easy.

The folded boxes will be filled with the blister ackages and instruction leafl ets before they pass the product detector of the JET3 printer. The triggered signal gives the print signal for the JET3 to mark the front side of the folded boxes with EAN-Data-Matrix-Code (GS1-ECC 200), expiry date, GTIN (Global Trade Identifi cation Number) as well as Charge- and serial number in plain writing. A conveyor belt carries the printed boxes to the packaging station. In this way the print data will be captured by the LEIBINGER camera system LKS 5Security to check if they are readable and correct. Parallel the plain writing will be compared and checked with the code information. After that the camera system decides about the further process of the product. If the imprint is readable and the code information compared to the plain writing are correct the product will be carried

further on the conveyor belt to the packaging station where the folded boxes were bundled and packed into cardboard boxes. If it turns out during the product marking check that a print is unreadable or incorrect this folded box will be rejected by a pneumatic cylinder.

The LEIBINGER JET3 is one of the few high-end printer which are able to print the EAN-Data-Matrix-Code (GS1-ECC 200) and meet the latest egulations in the industry. This code is used especially in the pharma industry to prevent as far as possible product phonies, to optimize Tracking & Tracing systems and to increase the effi ciency in production processes.

A new version of the JET3pi inkjet printer is
available now.

The JET3pi with
70μ (64 kHz) nozzle
enhances the wide
range of inkjet units from LEIBINGER.
So there is no limit to the application spectrum anymore.
This new printer version of the JET3pi is mainly suited
for printing on big letters with high contrast. By the

70μ nozzle and a special geometry of defl ection plates and printhead of the JET3pi a bigger defl ection of the ink drops can be achieved; therewith font sizes up to 15 mm can be printed.
The application area of the JET3pi with 70μ nozzle
include now also porose and highly sucking products,
where an increased amount of ink is necessary. The thicker drops by the 70μ nozzle and the use of
pigmented inks guarantee a strong contrast between
product surface and print.

The representation size of a Data-Matrix-Code can be adjusted variable with the new function at JET3.
In special applications like absorbent undergrounds or bad contrast between underground and imprint it is necessary to represent the Data Matrix Code very big. It is not possible to enlarge the code by increasing the font size because the dots will be a long way away from each other and the information wont be readable anymore for scanners. For this purpose a new function is integrated in the JET3 to print Data Matrix Codes in double size.

Thereby a single dot of a Data Matrix Code will be printed with four drops and not only with one drop as in regular representation size. This results in 16 dots for a Data Matrix Code in optical large representation size. However the information content of Data Matrix Codes in large representation equals only a Data Matrix Code with 16 dots in regular representation size.
The different representation sizes (fi ne, middle, large user defi ne) can be adjusted in the menu „Object settings/Barcode format.“
